The Parables in the Light of Today - Arthur Gunn

Summary:

During his lifetime, New Zealander and Presbyterian minister Rev Arthur Gunn was beloved for his insightful preaching, theology and explanations of the Christian message.

He worked as a missionary in China before serving as a pilot in the RAF during WW2. Following the war, he studied for ministry at the University of Edinburgh and subsequently became the minister of the flourishing church of St David's in Glasgow. After his return to NZ, he was a lecturer at the Bible College of NZ (Laidlaw College), minister of St Andrew's in Manurewa and for some eight years wrote daily devotional readings and Bible exposition for the Challenge Weekly newspaper. Some of these writings were collected into a series of booklets.

Long out of print and rare to find, stock of some of these original booklets were discovered and limited copies are now available for purchase.

Presented here are studies by Rev Gunn on the parables, with Bible readings and questions. The 33 chapters classify the parables under four headings: The Value of Citizenship in the Kingdom (10 studies), The Parable of the Prodigal Son (5 studies), The Characteristics of the True Citizen (11 studies), The Growth of the Kingdom (6 studies), and The Fate of Those Outside (6 studies).
